Biography
S4E4 - Midge leaves the Wolford to go on a dinner date with Liam, a doctor. At first it seems to go well, but Liam soon becomes annoying when he insists on showing off his Spanish-speaking skills at every opportunity. He even orders in Spanish, much to the waiter's confusion. Midge calls Susie and gives her the code-phrase to come bail her out. Susie shows up and uses the excuse of Ethan being sick to try and pull Midge away, but this backfires because Liam is a pediatrician and offers to help, making things awkward. Nevertheless, Susie manages to get Midge out of there, and the two return to the Wolford for movie night.
Quotes & Dialogue
LIAM: To new friends.
MIDGE: And the booze they bring. Mmm. Perfect.
LIAM: I'm really glad we finally did this.
MIDGE: Me too.
LIAM: I've been pulling all the late shifts at the hospital this month. The other doctors have families, so…
MIDGE: Don't worry. I like eating late. Comes with the microphone.
LIAM: It's very Spanish.
MIDGE: The microphone?
LIAM: Eating late. I lived there for a year. They don't sit down till ten. Even the kids. It's very different.
MIDGE: Oh, you got to live in Spain? Was it amazing?
LIAM: And delicious. The steak…
MIDGE: I was supposed to go this year. For work. But it fell through. Some other time. Spain.
LIAM: So, how long have you lived on el Lado Superior Oeste?
MIDGE: Hmm?
LIAM: The Upper West Side. Spanish.
MIDGE: Got it. Well, I was born on the Upper West Side. I actually live in the same building I grew up in.
LIAM: Eso es increíble.
MIDGE: That's… good?
LIAM: Sí.
MIDGE: I could tell by the smile and the fact that you didn't use the word “cancer.” Though you're a doctor, so “cancer” could be your pickup line.
LIAM: Eres una dama divertida.
MIDGE: You're very good.
LIAM: Gracias.
MIDGE: Ah, timing. Fill 'er up, please.
LIAM: And I think we're ready to order.
WAITER: Okay.
LIAM: Uh, We'll both have a filete meio rara, y una guarnicion de espinacas. That's a medium-rare steak with a side of spinach.
MIDGE: He lived in Spain.
WAITER: I'll be right back with your drink.
LIAM: So, you're a comedian.
MIDGE: Oh, that's English. Sorry. Yes. I am a comedian.
LIAM: And where do you get the ideas for your jokes?
MIDGE: Will you excuse me a moment?

LIAM: Jamon iberico de bellota el mejor del mundo. Do you like ham?
MIDGE: No. “Nó.” Spanish.
LIAM: You are funny. Have you ever seen a bullfight?
SUSIE: Miriam!
MIDGE: Susie. What are you doing here?
SUSIE: Sorry to interrupt, but your kid is very sick.
MIDGE: Oh, no.
SUSIE: Yeah, he's throwing up all over the place. Your rug's a total goner. I think he needs a doctor.
MIDGE: I am so sorry, Liam. I have to go.
LIAM: Well, should I come?
SUSIE: No. He needs a doctor.
LIAM: I am a doctor.
SUSIE: Oh. Well, yeah, but probably not the kind he needs.
LIAM: I'm a pediatrician.
SUSIE: He's an adult.
LIAM: She said he's five.
SUSIE: Will you just come and check on your goddamn kid?!
MIDGE: Yes. I am so sorry about this. Uh, we'll try it again. Really. Call me.
