Biography
S4E3 - At family dinner, Moishe expresses his confusion over having been invited to Akiva Bergman's bar mitzvah, given that he does not know the boy at all.
S4E3 - The Maisels and Weissmans attend Akiva Bergman's bar mitzvah. Also in attendance are Pauly (with his wife), Stevie (with her husband and children) and Edie (with her sister). Joel assumes that the woman next to him was recruited by Rose as a match for him, but when he tries to set a boundary with her, he soon realizes to his chagrin that he was wrong, and her husband Josiah is sitting right there. During the penultimate aliyah man's performance, the family begins to pick up on a hostile air directed towards them. Rabbi Huebsche keeps glancing angrily towards Abe and making barbed remarks. The final Aliyah, which was supposed to be done by Moishe, is given to David Ben Nasan without warning. Only once it is in progress does Akiva's Mom come up and tell Moishe about the supposed mixup. Eventually, the tension boils over and Abe learns that they are angry at him for trashing Buzz's play in the Village Voice. Pauly, Stevie, Edie, the Rabbi, and an older woman seated behind them all go in particularly hard on Abe. Eventually, he agrees to leave so that the proceedings can continue, but not before warning them that his honesty will continue.
Quotes & Dialogue
HUEBSCHE: Yasher koiach! Akiva, you did a wonderful job. Now, before we proceed with Hagbah, please tell everyone here about your Torah portion. In one word, what is it about?
AKIVA: Bravery.
HUEBSCHE: Yes, well, uh, bravery is very interesting, Akiva, and very noble. But is it as important as… Loyalty?
AKIVA: I-I guess.
MIDGE: Papa, what did you do to the rabbi?
ABE: I did nothing to the rabbi.
AKIVA: But, um, no one's braver than my Uncle Saul. He helped liberate the Jews of Auschwitz and now owns three restaurants, one of them dine-in.
HUEBSCHE: But one must keep in mind how important it is for a community such as ours to be loyal to each other.

EDIE: You ruined the show, and now you've ruined poor Akiva's bar mitzvah.
AKIVA: Yeah, I wish I hadn't invited you, Mr. Weissman.
