Midge struggles with her act as Shy's tour kicks off. Joel and Mei spark a connection. ===== Plot Synopsis ===== Susie meets with Harry Drake and his legal team to discuss Sophie Lennon, and how she poached her from them. On Harry's orders, Linda fetches champagne in mocking celebration of how screwed Susie is. Later, during the meeting, Anne interrupts with a phone call from Groucho Marx, but Harry tells her to tell Groucho that he'll get back to him. He then mockingly tells Susie that Groucho Marx waits for her. Noah, Astrid, Joel, Moishe and Shirley visit the Weissman residence for family dinner before the tour and the move-out. Noah has grown a disturbingly bushy beard because of a premonition that Astrid had. Moishe and Shirley appraise the Weissman's belongings to see if they want to take any of them for their new home in Queens. Esther goes missing, much to Ethan's delight, but is soon found with Joel. The brisket does not cook because the oven is out, so Midge sends Zelda to cook it in Mrs. Fulber's oven. As payment for this favor, Fulber covertly steals nearly half of the brisket for herself. Susie stops by Sophie's house and has an antagonistic interaction with Dawes. Jenkins assists him in his assault. Sophie soon arrives and escorts Susie up to the writer's room, where Herb Smith, Ted, Phil, and several other men are toiling away at jokes with no sense even of what time or day it is. Sophie then leads Susie up to the study, where she expresses her desire to perform Strindberg on Broadway. Midge shares Ethan and Esther's babysitting schedule for the tour with the assembled Maisel-Weissman clan, but this devolves into yet another argument about where Abe and Rose are going to live. Noah and Astrid offer to take them in, but the others argue that their place is too small. Later, Midge takes a final wistful glance around the apartment where she grew up, including the Dionne Quintuplets, and Joel wishes her luck on the tour. Moishe and Shirley invite Abe and Rose to stay with them in their new house. Midge and Susie join Shy and the gang (including Reggie, Billy, Slim, Dede, Martha, Dawn, Tim) as they depart on tour. The pilot, Captain Ron Schur, makes some announcements over the intercom. Susie is nervous because it is her first time on a plane. Mandy and the other stewardesses prove frustratingly difficult to nail down. Reggie solves both problems at once by furnishing Midge and Susie with some drinks. In Vegas, Midge and Susie share the limo ride to the hotel with Shy and Henry. When they get out, Midge has her first experience with a ravenous horde of fans. Inside the casino, Shy is greeted by Angie Calibresi, while Henry explains to Susie and Midge who Angie is. Midge and Susie then go up to their rooms, their baggage carried by a bellboy, and discover that the weird ask which Susie came up with on the spot - to furnish each room with yellow teddy bears - has been rather aggressively fulfilled. That evening, Midge and Susie hit the casino for what they think is a short time, but turns out to be six hours. They play the slot machines. They try to learn Craps by watching the Craps Dealer and a Dice Shooter, the latter of whom asks Midge to blow on his dice. They try to learn Blackjack by watching a Blackjack Player. They go back to the slot machines, and embarrass themselves to Henry by trying to recount the dice-blowing incident but accidentally slipping into innuendo multiple times. As they return to their rooms, Midge spots Carole rebuffing the sexual advances of Howard. Later, as Susie sleeps, Midge looks out the window and spots her name on the marquee. Excited, she rouses Susie and the two run out to see it up close. As they go, they attract the attention of a photographer, who follows them out and photographs them in front of the marquee. The next day, Midge and Susie look on as Shy does press with Reggie by his side and Henry over his shoulder. Reggie is frustrated by banal questions from a State Journal Reporter, a Reno Gazette Reporter, and Arnold. Angie comes over to Midge and Susie and introduces them to his wife Roberta. Susie spots the panty pose affixed to Shy's promotional poster, and exclaims a profanity. Reggie comes over and scolds her for disturbing the junket. He softens a little when Midge explains why she and Susie are frustrated, but stands firm on his unwillingness to fork out the money to print Midge's good headshots. Later that day, Midge sits in on Shy's sound-check frustrations. Carole, Billy, Slim, Henry, Lester, Dede, Martha and Dawn are all present as well. Shy laments briefly with Midge, then gets back to it, berating Lester for his choice of shirt. Rose and Abe say their final goodbyes to their apartment. Joel has dinner at his local Chinese restaurant, where he spots Mei collecting money from the restaurant owner, presumably for the mafia. When Mei spots Joel, she comes over and teases him for not knowing that he ordered a bunch of feet, and helps to order food that will be more to his liking. The first sparks of romantic chemistry begin to fire. Midge is nervous before her first night opening for Shy in Vegas. Her hair was not done to her satisfaction, and the stage manager is harrying her with constant updates on the time. When she is called to the stage, she takes a wrong turn and comes face-to-face with Slim and the band, until the stage manager directs her in the right direction. The show does not go well, as the crowd are noisy, pre-occupied with dinner, and lacking the appropriate context for many of her jokes. Midge is particularly annoyed when Berta, an audience member, is beckoned loudly and repeatedly to her table by her friend. Just when Midge finally starts to get some laughs, she runs out of time and cedes the stage to Shy and the band (Dede, Martha, Dawn, Carole, Billy, Slim, Tim). Before Midge has time to properly wallow in her misery and anxiety to Susie, the two are summoned to Angie's table, where Cece, Charlie and a few others are already sitting. To Midge's surpise, Angie praises her and gives her only a little constructive criticism. He also introduces Midge and Susie to Cece, his girlfriend. Angie orders Joey to fetch some food and drink for Midge and Susie, and gets up to follow Tony on some urgent business. In an effort to help Midge get her mojo back, Susie drags her to an open mic standup set in another part of the casino, where Eddie Major is currently stinking the place up. Susie goes over and pays the lounge sound guy, who announces the end of Eddie's time and introduces Midge. Susie then forces a protesting Midge up onto the stage. Midge quickly gets into a good groove, and soon the audience is roaring with laughter and a crowd of interested people are drawn into the room. Eventually, Shy catches wind of what is happening, and shows up with Reggie, Henry, Billy, Slim, Dede, Martha, Dawn, and Tim in tow. The audience is very excited to see a big star like Shy in this cheap hall, and Midge offers to cede the stage. Shy protests that he is tired, but after some playful taunting between himself and Reggie, the two wind up on stage together singing, with piano accompaniment from Tim. The next morning, Shy shows up to rehearsal to find the band is all missing. It turns out they are all in the kitchen, having a party and enjoying Midge's cooking. Stu explains the finer points of gambling to Susie. Midge is teaches her brisket recipe to Dede, Martha and Dawn. Midge talks with Carole about when she saw her the other night, and Howard makes another brief pass. Henry, Billy, Slim and Tim all simply enjoy the food. Reggie and Shy eventually stumble upon the party, and gleefully join in after a moment of feigned anger. Reggie pulls Stu away from Susie and tells her in no uncertain terms that Midge's standup will need to improve, though her cooking is already splendid. Reggie then begins to sing "Open the door, Richard", and the whole gang joins in. Rose and Abe arrive at Moishe and Shirley's place in Queens. ===== Cast ===== ==== Starring ==== * Rachel Brosnahan as Miriam "Midge" Maisel * Alex Borstein as Susie Myerson * Michael Zegen as Joel Maisel * Marin Hinkle as Rose Weissman * Kevin Pollak as Moishe Maisel * Caroline Aaron as Shirley Maisel * Jane Lynch as Sophie Lennon \\ **and** * Tony Shalhoub as Abe Weissman ==== Guest Starring ==== * [[sterling_k_brown|Sterling K.
