====== Boise ====== The Wolford Stage Manager {{INLINETOC width18 2}} \\ ===== Biography ===== S4E3 - Midge has a rocky start at the Wolford. Jillian's performance of Philomena the angel initially goes well... but as she exits, the wire contraption used to lower her comes loose and slams Trixie in the head, causing the Roaring Twenties act to be delayed. Not having been made aware of the schedule change, she has an awkward moment where she introduces the wrong act and has to run back to introduce Sapphira the Harem Girl. Midge confronts Boise about the poor communication and the lack of backstage safety, but he directs her to Clifford. S4E3 - At the Wolford, Midge tries to get a run-of-show list from Boise, but he goes too fast and she fails to keep up. Before she can pursue him for clarification, Lenny surprises her. S4E4 - Midge continues to wage an uphill battle trying to improve the working conditions at the Wolford. After a very awkward and incident-riddled finale act, she goes over to Boise to air her complaints. He is dismissive as usual, but she is able to secure a new curtain guy when the two stumble on a man who is clearly doing nothing. S4E4 - At the Wolford, Midge finally starts to make some headway. When Boise barges into the dressing room and tells Mitzi to move her ass, Midge firmly tells him to speak to the dancers with more respect, and to always knock at the door before entering. The dancers look on, surprised and impressed. Shortly afterwards, Susie badges Boise for her and Midge’s money. Midge attempts to catch Susie to apologize, but she slips away. Boise approaches and has an awkward moment where he struggles to find a more respectful way to tell Midge that she's up. He gives up, realizing that she has grasped the salient point in any case. Midge goes on stage, and does a set about the secret lives of stay-at-home wives which lands well. The dancers watch from the wings, enthralled, as do the wait staff on the theatre floor. Boise notices this, and angrily tells them to get back to work. He also notices to his chagrin that an alarming proportion of the audience is female. S4E6 - Boise proudly shares with Midge all the improvements he’s made around the place. As she goes on, however, he once again is distressed to see how much of the audience is female. S4E6 - In a meeting with Terrence, Boise and Mario attempt to put a stop to the feminization of the Wolford. When Midge comes over with Susie, they angrily confront her. Kenny sides with Boise and Mario, having been overwhelmed with unusual drink orders, but Tawny, Bunny, Mitzi and Tilly all pitch in on Midge’s side. Terrence is on the side of the money, and when he sees that these changes have only increased profits, he makes the call that they should double down on them, much to the chagrin of Boise and Mario. S4E8 - Boise calls Midge at the hospital and begs her to come back. He recounts the disastrous outcome of Midge’s idea to send Mitzi, Bunny and Gloria up in her place. S4E8 - Boise is ecstatic to see Midge return for a single set. Shortly afterwards, however, the place is raided by the cops, and Boise frantically sees to the evacuation of his employees. Midge tries to get him to come along, but he decides to nobly go down with the ship. S5E1 - At the Stage Deli, Susie tells Midge that Boise called to say that he paid off the right cops and the Wolford is reopening, and that Midge is welcome to emcee there again. ===== Quotes & Dialogue ===== > BOISE: Look - as long as some girl's out there shakin' her chi-chi's, those guys don't care how the fuck they're dressed. \\ MIDGE: I disagree. With Sapphira the Harem Girl, they're anticipating sultry, mysterious chi-chi's, not the bippity-boppity chi-chi's of the Roaring Twenties girl. \\ BOISE: Look, no one's confused 'cause no one's hardly listening to you. \\ MIDGE: I take offense at that. \\ BOISE: You all do. \\ – S4E3 > MIDGE: This is looking like a half-assed burlesque show. \\ BOISE: It is a half-assed burlesque show. \\ MIDGE: Boise… \\ BOISE: Let's see how tomorrow goes. \\ MIDGE: You keep saying that. \\ BOISE: Well, I'm a hopeful guy. \\ – S4E4 > BOISE: The hot water in the shower is back on. The coffee area was cleaned, and we got a new coffee maker. We got cream and sugar even though sugar means bugs. \\ MIDGE: That's what sugar bowls are for. \\ BOISE: We will get a sugar bowl. We moved the paint cans and tarps from the storage room. The floor-to-ceiling mirror's been hung. The new seamstress is here. She did not come with her own sewing machine, as you had promised, but when we moved the paint cans and tarps, we found out we actually had a sewing machine, so there you go. The roof will be fixed next week. We found Duke's trumpet. We cannot find Duke. The dr… The dressing room speaker works now, and we were unable to remove the urinal from the ladies' room, so we turned it into a planter. \\ MIDGE: Boise, this is good progress. I just might make a stage manager out of you yet. \\ BOISE: Hey, I'm not a stage manager. I am a manager manager. I manage the stage, yes, but I manage other things. The front room. I manage that. The loading dock. I am definitely the manager of… Well, I share that responsibility with Dave, but when deliveries come, I am… \\ MIDGE: Wrap it up. I gotta work. \\ BOISE: Yep. \\ – S4E6 > BOISE: I invented a drink. \\ MIDGE: Oh, yeah? \\ BOISE: It is pink and fizzy and you set it on fire. It's stunning.
